Are you fully qualified and insured?
Yes. Every tree surgeon at TB Tree Care is NPTC-certified in chainsaw operation, climbing, and aerial rescue. We carry full public liability and employer’s liability insurance, and all work is carried out to BS3998 standards. Insurance certificates and method statements are available on request.
Do I need permission before tree work is carried out?
Sometimes, yes. Trees protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or located in conservation areas require council approval before any work takes place. We always check this before quoting and can submit the application paperwork on your behalf where needed. Cutting a protected tree without permission can result in significant fines.
How much does a tree surgeon cost?
Cost depends on the size and condition of the tree, the access to the site, the method required (felling vs sectional dismantling), and whether stump grinding or waste removal is included. We give every customer a clear written quote before any work starts — there are no hidden costs and you only pay once the work is completed to your satisfaction.

Will you remove all the waste afterwards?
Yes — full waste removal is included as standard. Smaller material is chipped on-site and larger timber is cut into manageable lengths and removed. If you’d like to keep the logs for firewood, just let us know in advance and we’ll leave them stacked for you.
How long does tree surgery work take?
Most domestic jobs are completed within a single working day. Larger trees, restricted access, or sectional dismantling can extend this to two or more days. We give an estimated duration in the written quote so you know what to expect.
When is the best time of year for tree work?
Most tree work can be carried out year-round, but there are seasonal considerations. Heavy pruning is best avoided when sap is rising in spring. Bird nesting season (typically March to August) requires extra checks. Winter is often ideal for major work because the structure is clearer without leaves and the tree is dormant.
Can you work in confined or difficult-access locations?
Yes. Sectional dismantling using climbing techniques and rigging equipment allows us to safely remove or reduce trees in tight spaces — including next to buildings, over conservatories, near power lines, or in narrow gardens with restricted access.
