Gallery
A look at recent tree surgery, hedge cutting and stump grinding work across the East Midlands.
What you are looking at
Photographs are the fastest way to judge a tree surgeon, provided you know what to look for. Three things are worth checking in any contractor's gallery, including this one.
Look at the cuts, not the tree. A proper reduction leaves the crown in its natural shape, smaller, with cuts made back to a suitable growth point. Topping — cutting straight across limbs at a uniform height — leaves stubs that decay and throw weak regrowth. It is quicker, it is cheaper, and it ruins the tree. You can see the difference in a photograph.
Look at the ground. A finished job should show a clear site: no chip trodden into the lawn, no rutting where a vehicle sat, no stacked arisings left for someone else. Clearing up is part of the job rather than an extra, and a gallery full of tidy sites is a reasonable proxy for how a firm works.
Look for the awkward jobs. Anyone can fell a tree in an open field. Sectional dismantling over a conservatory, a stump ground out in a garden reached only through the house, a leylandii run taken off a terrace with no rear access — those are the pictures that tell you what a crew can actually do.

A truly professional service, fantastic knowledge and offers no obligation advice if you’re not sure what you need. Came and took an exceptionally large Laurel tree down for me, fully cleared and tidied, left my garden with so much more light (and sunshine when we get it) would definitely recommend.

Photographs make a quote faster
The same thing works in reverse. For a great many jobs we can give you a firm price from photographs without visiting at all, which usually means a quote within a few hours rather than a wait for an appointment.
Two or three shots from different angles, taken far enough back to show the whole tree or the full run of hedge, with something in frame for scale — a person, a wheelie bin, a doorway. A picture of the access route helps too, because on a terrace with no rear entry that is frequently the single biggest factor in the price.
Send them with the form on any page, or straight to hello@tbtreecare.co.uk. If we do need to come and look, that visit is free as well.
